    Les held a range of promotional positions in the Western Australian state school system before moving into tertiary education. His main research interests are in human development and in understanding our relationship with the world in which we live. This has encouraged interest in several areas including: integral philosophy; postmodernism; adult education; transformative education; studies in consciousness; morality and ethics; and the nexus of the individual and the collective.

    Sandra is a researcher and lecturer in Society and Environment in the Education Program at ECU 's South West Campus. She has been a social and environmental activist for many years and is passionate about environmental education, Indigenous issues and Education for Sustainability. Sandra originally started at ECU's South West Campus in 1987 as researcher-director of the Noongar Language Project. Since then, she has taught a wide variety of courses across several programs, including Society and Environment, Aboriginal Education, Technology and Enterprise , Women in Minority Groups and several research methods units. She has also worked as a school teacher during this time, both voluntarily and professionally.
  • Terry Hopkins , BScHonsUWA, DipEdSTC, PostGradDipScEdCurtin, MEdCowan, MACE
    Terry Hopkins is the Program Coordinator (Education) at ECU South West, Bunbury. He taught science and mathematics in Australia for 23 years and held a variety of positions in schools, including Head of Department Mathematics and Science, Learning Team Coordinator, Deputy Principal, Year Coordinator and District Youth Organiser. Terry taught in Zimbabwe for 2 years and has twice visited Germany to research middle schooling practice. He has worked in a District Education Office for 3 years, focussing on school development planning, curriculum development, outcomes based education, school effectiveness and improving the learning environment for students. Terry’s interests include mathematics and science education, school reform, middle schooling, teacher education and the professional development of in-service teachers. His PhD research focuses on teachers’ work in middle schools. Terry’s recent presentations included integrated curricula in teacher education at the IASCE conference in Singapore, and the use of Socratic dialogue in teacher education at Nanyang Technological University. Terry led a team of academics and teachers to China in July 2006 and is working toward expanding cooperation in teaching and research with educators in Jiaxing schools and Jiaxing University.
