Student Visas International Students must obtain a Student Visa before arriving in Australia. Your Student Visa means you must study full-time. The University is obliged to report any student who does not attend classes, or who is not making satisfactory progress in their studies to the Department of Immigration and Multicultural And IndigenousAffairs ( DIMIA )

Applicants may apply directly to ECU, to one of our international representative* offices, to one of our Western Australian Education Offices (WAEO) or to an overseas office of IDP Education Australia.
There is no application fee at ECU.

Step 1 - Applications Applicants must submit in addition to their completed Application Form:
- Evidence of English Language proficiency
- Certified copies of previous academic results
If your documents are in a language other than English, you must provide an officially certified translation of each document, together with certified copies of the original documents.
APPLY EARLY - As a guide, you should apply by 30th November for courses commencing February intake and by 31st May for courses commencing July intake. However, late applications will be considered.

Step 2 - Offer of a Place If your application is successful, we will send you an Offer of Admission.
The offer will indicate:
- the course you have been offered; the tuition fee; compulsory Overseas Students Health Cover; the course commencement date; orientation date; duration and campus
- any pre-requisites that you may need to meet before you can be formally accepted into the course (see Provisional and Conditional Offers below);
- fees and refund policy
- information about services offered by ECU to international students.
A Provisional Offer of Admission may be made when an applicant has applied for a formal course of study and has met the academic requirements for admission, but has not met the English Language requirements; OR an applicant has applied for a formal course of study but is awaiting the issue of final academic results.
A final Offer of Admission may be made when the applicant provides the University with certified evidence that English Language OR academic entry requirements have been satisfied.
Step 3 - Acceptance To accept an Offer of Admission, you must pay your first semester Tuition Fees and any other charges described in the Offer of Admission; and, sign and return the Letter of Acceptance that accompanies your Offer of Admission. Payment details, including methods of payment, and where to send your payments, are outlined in the Offer of Admission booklet accompanying the offer.
Step 4 - Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) When the University receives your Letter of Acceptance and the fees described in the Offer of Admission, you will be issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment. The Australian Diplomatic Mission will not issue you a Student Visa until Australian Immigration staff receive a Confirmation of Enrolment issued by the University.
Step 5 - Visa Apply for your Visa. The Australian Diplomatic Mission will explain the requirements that you will need to meet to obtain your student visa.
These include proof of ability to pay fees and support yourself in Australia, and compliance with health regulations. If you have applied with the assistance of one of our overseas representative offices, that office will also be able to assist you with these procedures.

Step 6 - Departure Make your final preparations for arrival in Australia. Please ensure that you respond to information the University sends you concerning Airport Reception and Accommodation preferences in your Pre-departure guide . |
