Short Professional Biography
Marilyn Palmer was a member of the original team which established the ECU social work course, introduced at Bunbury in 1997. Prior to that, she had taught in the Bachelor of Social Science degree programs at ECU Bunbury. For a number of years, Marilyn was a full-time student, while completing her PhD thesis. Prior to working at ECU, Marilyn worked for many years as a social worker for the Department for Community Development and as a community development worker.

Marilyn also does private consultancy work as a professional practice supervisor, researcher, trainer and team facilitator.

Research Interests
Marilyn's principal research interests are in family and domestic violence, the use of participative research methodologies (eg. cooperative inquiry, action research, participatory evaluation), community development and collaborative teaching and learning styles. She also has an interest in the area of disaster response and management.
